During the next one and a half years, art scenes from different cities will be featured at the consulate and it’s branch offices. The first guest is the art platform Remont from Belgrade.
”The Balkan Konsulat is in this particular show interpreted as kind of a counter-colonizing project, with a mission to serve as a laboratory for experimenting with an impossible task of forming the representative representative of the city of, in this case Belgrade, or of providing with a Vorstellungsrepraesentanz, a representative of the missing representation.
The basic aim of the artists is not to show and convey what is and what was ‘really’ going on there, in one of the zones almost invisible on the international map of contemporary art, behind the ‘media wall’ covered with images of violence and exoticism referred with to the local ‘Balkanites’. Their intention, rising up to a demand is to recontextualize technologies of visual representation from a phantasmatic Balkanian cultural zone.
