What happens if the production methods within the electronic culture due to technical preconditions act with an increasingly granular structure? What if sampling, citing methods and sequencing operate more and more in a split up way. Which new cultural patterns emerge, when sound- and image production is becoming increasingly microscopic? With the aspect of a granular production method in the contemporary media art, Medienturm Graz continues the central topic of the last two years, Techno Visions, on an enlargened territory.
Micro Sounds is dedicated to the processes of the constant fine tuning of contemporary art and music, which tends to lead to an emptying and dissolving of the used materials. New minimalism in the electronic art and music are topic to the same extent as digital reduction procedures such as ”klicks“, ”glitches“ and ”micro-sampling“.
